Tonight I Bring You Evidence Of Odd Optical Side Effects From The Diabetes Drug Symlin

From the "Big Pharma propaganda I look through while trying to quickly stuff a tuna sandwhich down my face" file:

What the hell is up with this woman's eyes? At first I thought maybe they were trying to dress her up a bit like a football player, you know, because she says she's ready to FIGHT her type 1 diabetes. I attributed the fact that it looked like she was wearing red tape instead of eye black to the kind of thing that happens when you need to get a photo shoot done in a hurry. It was a slightly plausible theory that was blown completely out of the water then I turned the page and saw this:

WTF? Are they trying to say that users of Symlin have egg on their face? Because it totally looks like this guy's eyes have been done over-easy. I seriously don't get this, and can only suspect the diabolical influence of Hillary Clinton.

There is only one way to assure that in the future you will not be wearing eye pigments color-coordinated with the food you eat. Do not vote for Hillary Clinton in your state's Democratic primary or caucus. This country cannot afford the risk.

Is she wearing barbeque sauce under her eyes and he's wearing mustard (because he's eating a hot dog and she's eating barbeque chicken)? It still does not make any sense, but is that the answer for the color coordination?

Like you, I have no clue what the eye stuff means. I noticed it's color-coordinated to what the actor is wearing. Is there some significance in that? Also, it seems to be coordinated to the color of the one of the foods on the plate. The woman's dinner is ?barbecued chicken (and the stuff under her eyes looks like barbecue sauce) and the man's meal is a hotdog with mustard, and his eye makeup looks like...?

Clearly this ad campaign only means something to the individuals who came up with the idea. It's going to bother me all damn day, trying to figure out WTF it means. I'll be working, or standing in line at the bank, or sitting in traffic, and I'll be obsessed and annoyed about this stupid ad.

I'm sure Big Pharma has a pill for that, too.

Symlin is an evil drug. I used symlin for around 6 months. I remember reading about the FDA’s concerns in regards to severe hypos with this drug. It wasn’t until I experienced them myself that I understood these concerns. Symlin can cause severe and debilitating lows that happen so quickly it interrupts your body’s ability to appropriately respond metabolically, especially in patients who have had type 1 diabetes for any length of time and already have compromised metabolic responses to low blood glucose due to years of intensive insulin therapy. Symlin was supposed to be the answer, instead it was a grave disappointment (that made me burp constantly). I’ve never taken a drug, before symlin, that I truly felt compromised my personal safety.

I'm reasonably certain you're looking at ketchup and mustard used as 'war paint' in their fight against sani...I mean diabetes.

It looks like BBQ sauce and mustard. Saying they don't have to watch what they eat??

ummm. I'm guessing the guy has mustard on his face. He musta missed his hot dog. And the lady must be ketchup for her steak. Either way, retarted ads and have almost nothing to do with diabetes. Are they saying diabetics can now eat their condiments with symlin?

*wow* just wow.
I wonder what braintrust came up with that ad campaign? I wonder how I can cash in on the drug company's stupidity?

You make me laugh so hard! But I'm still voting for Hilary Clinton.

Since when is a hot dog on a white bun an appropriate 'meal' for a diabetic?

Thanks for the words on Hillary..
I am a republican(many many years) and have split many tickets in my time, but not for Hillary. The first president I voted for was Kennedy, then he was my boss as I was drafted soon after.
You are great, most of the time.

Drugmonkey,
I love your blog. I have been there. I worked retail for many years. Now I am in the Pharma Industry. Much better life.

Pros to your blog:
1. Describes the futility of the mass market to understand the management of healthcare.
2. You understand what would happen to healthcare if Hillary was elected.
3. Provide a real life description of the pharmacy consumer.

Cons to your blog:
1. Believing that Pharma companies are the source of problems with healthcare. Insurance companies?
2. Not understanding what would happen to healthcare if Obama was elected.
3. Somehow thinking that the pharmacy consumer would change his or her ways even with universal healthcare. I guess less bitching at the counter would make the retail pharmacist job easier. The stupid questions would still be abundant.

Sincerely,
Epitope2
